『ひまわり』出す直前というと、卓治が一番ロック界の寵児的だった頃だね。烏丸は浜省とか甲斐と交流があったから、卓治みたいな歌手が好みだったのかも。でもせめて『夜のヒットスタジオ』に出演するぐらいのところまでは行ってほしかったね。九州つながりで『笑っていいとも』出演というのも期待したけどそれもなかった。あれにはたしかモッズの森山とか鮎川とかタレントになる前のうじきつよしなんかも出てたような記憶がある。

サードアルバムで心に残っているのはパッシングベルぐらい。でも、小山さんが今でも業界から消え去らずに歌い続けられてるのは、初期の頃の才気とミュージシャンシップがまがい物ではなかったという証なのだろうな。個人的にはもう金を払ってまで彼の歌を聞こうとは思わないが。小山さんが短期間ではあるが僕らに残してくれた衝撃と感動は絶対消え去らないものだし、そんな彼が今でも健康な体で地道に堅実に歌い続けている、それだけでも充分じゃないか。

小山が大好きだった頃には気づかなかったけど少し離れて楽曲と向き合ってみると、結局、客観的すぎて伝わりにくいというか物語要素が強すぎるからその世界観の入り口で客を選んでしまうみたいな
だからといって一人称の曲になると尾崎や浜省みたいなダサいけど強いみたいな個性ではなく、ただひたすらダサいが勝ってしまうという
こだわって聞いていたミュージシャンではあるがリスナー以上に本人が小山卓治にこだわりすぎて埋没してしまった類稀な例かも知れない
本気でもう少しは売れて欲しかったよ

や微熱夜みたいな抽象的でハードボイルドな歌詞世界は小山卓治には不釣り合いというかムリを感じるね
どう考えても甲斐バンドの世界だよ
ファーストとセカンドで展開されていた庶民の生活をしっかり見据えて欲求不満を吐き出すというソングライティングが小山の本領だったんじゃないか

大沢はシングルで大ヒット出したし、球場コンサートもやった事あったよ
確実にスーパースターとして君臨した時期があったミュージシャンだよ
逆に小山はシングルもアルバムも売れなかったし、いつだって知る人ぞ知るミュージシャンだったな
今現在の状況は似てるかも知れないけど、一般的知名度では圧倒的に大沢の方が上だよ
小山を大沢とくらべるなんて大沢に失礼だよ
